Let’s say you’d found the biggest gold ingot in history. Would you toss it in the trash and say, “Well that gold ingot is a world record and it’s worth a huge fortune, but now that I’ve found it, what I really want to do is to make some gold just like it in a factory.”

If I said that, you’d say I was certifiably crazy. But when a researcher claims the same thing the media says, “Oh wonderful, we are that much closer to finding gold!”
