Dangerous waters: challenges of arsenic and salinization in Bangladesh
Posted by on in ArsenicDetails
What happens when water you thought was ‘safe’ turns bad? In Bangladesh millions of wells are polluted with naturally occurring arsenic: you cannot smell or taste it but it has a devastating impact on health. In coastal areas, traditional ponds have become contaminated with salt water, especially following cyclone Aila.
This film looks at how BRAC WASH is working with communities to provide a safe alternative. We see how communities can be transformed by access to safe water near at hand but should also understand that there are many others who still have no alternative to unsafe and polluted water.
