DISCLAIMER: THIS VIDEO IS FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY AND IS NOT INTENDED TO REPLACE THE VETERINARY CLIENT-PATIENT RELATIONSHIP IN ANY SPECIFIC ANIMAL.
Describes the use of compounded calcium chloride for non-surgical castration of dogs and cats, and even large animals. Technique modified by Wayne Haney from earlier research by Kuladip Jana, Prabhat K Samanta and Raffaella Leoci.
Calcium Chloride fulfills the principal requirements for application to a population of stray canines. A single, bilateral intratesticular injection for stray dogs is effective in achieving long-term infertility, inhibits sexual behavior, does not cause chronic stress to the animal, causes few inflammatory reactions, lacks other undesirable side effects, is easily performed, and is economical.
