A compound called zerumbone found in tropical ginger was able to stop cancer cell growth and also killed invading cancer cells in addition to reducing overall inflammation in the colon.

Ginger raises immunity in several ways. Firstly it contains compounds which are antimicrobial (killing or inhibiting the growth of microorganisms such as bacteria and fungi). Ginger has also been shown to activate an important part of the immune system.

These cells are specialized white blood cells that are capable of seeking out cells infected with viruses and killing them. They also help to destroy tumor cells.
